MSc in Applied Geomatics
Currently, I am a Master of Science (MSc) student at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
This page will showcase some of my work which I am on track to finish in Spring of 2024.
MSc Research Project:
Working with Alvaz Agritch to develop machine learning models for crop lodging identification and classification
Focused within ArcGIS Pro v3.2 (Esri)
Special Topics in Geomatics
This course allows me to take on projects that are of interest to me in order to build new skills within the field of geomatics.
Project 1: Using Google Earth Engine to analyze the health of American Beech trees in Nova Scotia
Project 2: Using MaxEnt (Phillips et al. 2006) to develop habitat distribution models for bird species in Nova Scotia
Geomatics Seminar 1
For this course, I am researching the environmental effects of road salt & sand, used for winter road maintenance
Includes a 30 minute presentation and accompanying research paper
Geomatics Seminar 2
For my second seminar, I'm taking inspiration from my MSc research project and discussing the controversial aspects of industrial soybean cultivation in Brazil!
Includes a 30 minute presentation and accompanying annotated bibliography.
BIOL 5013 Research Methods in Biology
I completed this elective course over the fall semester- the main focus of the course was how to improve my reserach and scientific writing skills that ultimately help with completing the rest of my coursework for my MSc degree.
ENVS 3423 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
I've chosen to take this course as an elective because I'm interested in learning about environmental impact assessment
I am certainly open to a career in consulting that could see my geomatics skillset applied to EIA related work
